Fortnite's latest patch notes have finally landed, with fans able to get their hands on a host of exciting new features.
The Fortnite 8.20 update went live on Wednesday morning, and has brought with it an array of new skins in the latest bundle.
Here's everything you need to know about Fortnite 8.20.
What's new in Fortnite 8.20?
The Floor Is Lava
Arguably the biggest change in the latest Fortnite patch is the new lava floor. In this Limited Time Mode, lava will rise from the lowest parts of the map just a few minutes into the start of the match until the entire map is covered.Touching it will deal damage to your health and also launch you into the air. However, players can build on the lava, and they will be given materials to help out when the map is covered.
Fortnite says of its introduction: "The Volcano has sprung a leak...Drop, loot, RUN! Hold the high ground and be the last one standing in this spicy new LTM."
Poison Dart Trap
The Poison Dart Trap fires projectiles when it is triggered. Developer Epic Games says: "It's a Poison Trap! Catch your opponents off guard with this new addition. But remember, watch where you step."Available in Uncommon Rarity and found from Floor Loot, the trap can be placed on floors, walls and ceilings and can be triggered up to three grid cells away - the same distance it can fire horizontally.
Foraged Items
Get ready for the foraged items. As Epic says: "It’s Bananas! Regenerate health and zoom around after taking a bite from a Pepper, heal up with a tasty Banana, or relax with a Coconut to gain health/shields."Each banana grants you five health when eaten and can be found in the tropical biome; coconuts are foraged by damaging palm trees, grants you five points of "effective health" over a short time and can be found in both tropical and desert biomes.
Changes to weapons and gameplay
The Baller no longer applies damage to players on collision, but the knock back/bounce effect will remain unchanged.Changes added in season 7.20 which granted other health or shields and materials when eliminating players have been eradicated, as they encouraged "an unhealthy level of aggressive play" and diminished "other viable strategies".
The Infantry Rifles has been converted to hitscan, (meaning it no longer fires projectiles, or snipers) and now fires the same as other Assault Rifles, while the Pirate Canon's collision has been adjusted "to ensure the driver's seat is always enterable without needing to nudge the canon". The radius of the cannonballs and player land explosions has been increased from 200 units to 250, while the canon knock back has been reduced.
Epic has also attached the Buried Treasure directional indicator to the player, which now "emanates from the area of the treasure map in order to improve visibility, especially while moving".
